Therapeutic Recreation Clinic
The mission of recreation therapy, a direct-care interdisciplinary service, is to improve and enrich bio-psycho-social functioning through active therapy and/or meaningful therapeutic activities to maintain or improve functional independence and life quality. The intended outcome of the service is independence in life activities based upon patient/resident needs and goals. Our Recreation Therapists and Creative Arts Therapists work with patients on a number of services and in programs such as: Rehab Service, CLC, Acute Care Mental Health, VRC, and outpatients referred for therapy from Primary Care, Mental Health, etc. We have educational treatment groups and Leisure Skill Development groups including: Stress Management through Leisure, Mindfulness, Pottery, Walking Stick Making, Jewelry Making, Drumming, Open Studio, and Women Veterans Group. We also have a Therapeutic Exercise clinic that provides individualized treatment programs for veterans referred from Primary Care. Other therapeutic exercise groups include Arthritis Exercise Group, Circuit Training Group and Zumba.
