Sexual Assault Awareness Month
All Hands On Deck To Help Suvivors of Military Sexual Trauma

APRIL IS SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH!

According to VA statistics, for patients receiving care, they have reported the following rates of assault or harassment during their active duty service:

- 1 in 4 female VA patients experienced a sexual assault
- 1 in 2 female VA patients experienced sexual harassment

- 1 in 100 male VA patients experienced a sexual assault
- 1 in 3 male VA patients experienced sexual harassment

Any veteran, male or female, who reports a history of MST while on active duty service is eligible for free care in the VA system related to the sexual assault or harassment. 

Sexual Trauma can lead to longstanding difficulty.  These difficulties commonly include: 

- anxiety
- anger
- depression
- difficulty in crowded places
- difficulty in relationships and building trust
- low self esteem.
