Oklahoma City VA Medical Center

Customer Service

The OKC VAMC strives to provide the highest quality of care to the veterans of our nation who call the OKC VAMC home. We recognize there may be times when a patient or family member has an issue which requires our attention. Because the best time to let us know of any concern or question is at the time it happens - so we can resolve it as quickly as possible - we have established several programs to assist you.

Patient Representative

The OKC VAMC has on staff highly-skilled patient representatives and customer service representatives who are eager to help you with your concern in a timely manner.

The Patient Representatives and Customer Service Representatives

  • serve as liaisons between patients and the medical center
  • act on the patient's behalf
  • help patients understand their rights and responsibilities

No matter which service you visit when you come to OKC VAMC, you will always be able to find our patient advocate or one of our many customer services representatives. Each of these individuals can address and resolve your concern at the point of contact.

Our patient advocate is located on the 1st floor in room in 1F-216 and the phone number is (405) 456-1000 extension 65108. A listing of our customer service representatives is listed below.

Patient Feedback Tools

We also have a number of feedback tools for you to provide information about the care and service you receive. Please take the time to participate in and use these feedback tools. Our goal is to provide compassionate, quality care in a timely manner.

(*)  For Inpatients:  The OKC VAMC is utilizing the "Press Ganey" inpatient survey to collect insightful information that allows the medical center to continuously improve in the exceptional care we provide to our patients.  One-hundred percent of all patients discharged from the OKC VAMC will receive a Press Ganey survey within two weeks from the day in which they are discharged.  Your feedback about the care and services you receive while in the medical center provides us an opportunity to make changes and improvements. Please take a few minutes to complete and return the survey in the pre-stamped envelope.

(*)  For Outpatients: The key to capturing the best understanding of our patient's thinking and satisfaction regarding the care they receive is to ask them at their Point-of- Experience, at the end of your outpatient visit.  The OKC VAMC is utilizing the "Opinion meter" survey tool to capture your insight about the care you received that day. There are two ways in which you can complete the survey. First, you can complete this survey at one of the Opinionmeters located in the outpatient clinics. Second, you may be provided a card with the questions printed on it.  Please fill this card out and place it in the Opinionmeter survey boxes located next to the checkout desk.

(*)  For Inpatients and Outpatients: After your visit, you may receive a confidential questionnaire in the mail titled "Survey of Healthcare Experience of Patients" asking you about your most recent outpatient or inpatient treatment at our medical center. Please use the survey to let us know of any concerns, complaints, or questions you have about your care, so that we can resolve them. We also appreciate compliments about what we are doing right.

Tell it to the Director Boxes

Your feedback about the care and services you receive while in the medical center provides us an opportunity to make changes and improvements. There are 'Tell it to the Director' boxes with comment cards located throughout the medical center for you to express a concern, make a suggestion, or give a compliment.
